Committees are the specialized engines driving council action. These groups bring together members with specific expertise to tackle crucial issues, from infrastructure and finance to environmental planning and social welfare.
They are essential for in-depth analysis and the efficient development of focused strategies that benefit the entire community.
Women's Development Committee
The AA. Bodufolhudhoo Women's Development Committee (WDC) is an important body, elected under the Decentralization Act, that works to protect women's rights, run training programmes that create income-generating opportunities, and economically empower women — while also increasing women's participation in political and social decision-making. The Committee also organizes activities to raise health and education awareness among women and children, and assists and advises the Council on the island's cleanliness and development projects. Through this work, the Committee sets an example in fostering unity and community spirit on the island.
